Two teenagers, aged 15 and 14, are facing serious charges after allegedly hijacking a vehicle from a 61-year-old man on Chicago’s South Side. The incident took place at around 3:45 p.m. on Sunday in the 7900 block of South Shore Drive. The teenagers, along with accomplices, reportedly used a firearm to assault the victim and steal his 2012 GMC Acadia. Fortunately, the victim’s injuries were not severe.
The Citywide Vehicular Hijacking Task Force apprehended the 15-year-old in the 7900 block of South Muskegon and the 14-year-old in the 8000 block of South Muskegon at 11:15 a.m. on Monday. Both teenagers have been charged with aggravated vehicular hijacking with a firearm. Additionally, the 15-year-old, who had an outstanding warrant for a separate offense, is also facing charges for possessing a stolen vehicle.
Due to their status as minors, the identities of the teenagers have not been released by the Chicago Police Department. This incident serves as a reminder of the serious consequences of carjacking and the importance of public safety measures in the community.
