Basketball Africa League (BAL)

On a thrilling night in the Basketball Africa League (BAL), Pieter Prinsloo shone with a game-high 30 points and 11 rebounds, leading Made By Basketball (MBB) from South Africa to a nail-biting 75-74 victory over Nairobi City Thunder from Kenya. Teafale Lenard Jr. also made a significant contribution with 20 points, six rebounds, and five assists in the intense matchup that took place at BK Arena in Kigali.

Despite facing an 18-point deficit in the second half, MBB staged a remarkable comeback, culminating in a dramatic three-pointer from Robinson Opong that secured the one-point win with just over three seconds remaining on the clock. Nairobi City Thunder, led by Evans Ganapamo (21 points) and Tylor Ongwae (20 points), put up a tough fight but ultimately fell short, shooting 36 percent from the field.

This victory marked MBB’s first win in the BAL competition, boosting their hopes of securing a spot in the upcoming BAL Playoffs and Finals scheduled to take place in Pretoria from June 6-14. On the other hand, Nairobi City Thunder continues to search for their first win after three games in Kigali.

In the second game of the night, Al Ahli Tripoli from Libya dominated APR from Rwanda with a convincing 90-68 win, maintaining their unbeaten streak in the Nile Conference. Jean Jacques Boissy and Naseim Badrush were instrumental for Al Ahli, combining for 52 points, 11 rebounds, and six steals. Despite a valiant effort from Obadiah Noel and Chasson Randle, who both scored 18 points for APR, the team suffered their first defeat in the competition.

With Al Ahli leading the Nile Conference with a perfect 3-0 record, the competition intensifies as they prepare to face Nairobi City Thunder next, while APR looks to bounce back against MBB in the upcoming matchups on Thursday.
