A woman arrested for fabricating a kidnapping to conceal an illegal adoption

Recent events in Thabong have shed light on an illegal adoption scheme that led to the arrest of a woman who falsely reported a child kidnapping. The incident unfolded when the biological mother of a two-year-old child reclaimed her son, exposing the illicit arrangement that had taken place two years prior.

Authorities in Thabong apprehended a 46-year-old woman from Bultfontein on charges of perjury and obstructing justice after it was revealed that she had been involved in an illegal adoption. The woman had allegedly struck up a friendship with a pregnant 24-year-old woman on Facebook, leading to an agreement to transfer the baby to her upon birth.

Biological mother reunites with her son after illegal adoption

The situation took a dramatic turn when the biological mother decided to reclaim her son two years after the unauthorized adoption. In response, the woman who had been raising the child falsely reported a kidnapping at the Thabong police station in an attempt to conceal the truth.

Upon investigation, it was determined that there was no evidence of a kidnapping at the alleged crime scene. Further inquiry revealed that the biological mother had retrieved the child from the Bultfontein woman on March 9th, prompting the arrest of the woman for fabricating the kidnapping.

Exposure of false kidnapping claim

The child was safely removed from the Bultfontein woman’s care and is currently under the supervision of Phuthaditjhaba Social Services. The Thabong Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offenses (FCS) unit arrested the woman for perjury and obstructing justice following the exposure of her deceitful kidnapping report.

It was later discovered that the biological mother had given birth to the child in Bloemfontein two years ago and had handed him over to the Bultfontein woman shortly after birth. The biological mother had fraudulently registered the child under the Bultfontein woman’s identity at the Department of Home Affairs.

Legal repercussions for both parties involved

Both the biological mother and the Bultfontein woman are now facing charges of fraud and human trafficking in connection with the illegal adoption. The investigation into the matter is ongoing as authorities work to ensure justice is served.
