The Fêtes de la Musique, or World Music Day, celebrations in France took a disturbing turn when nearly 150 concertgoers, mostly teenage girls, were attacked with syringes. The bizarre incident occurred at a nationwide music festival, with multiple suspects now in custody in connection with the attacks.

Local and national law enforcement agencies are actively investigating the wave of syringe attacks that took place at various music venues across the country. The attackers targeted 145 victims, causing several individuals to be hospitalized. The first attack was reported on Rue du Palais in Metz, northeastern France, prompting a swift response from authorities.

Mayor François Grosdidie confirmed that a suspect involved in one of the attacks was apprehended thanks to security footage. The individual was located on Rue Serpenoise and handed over to the National Police and Justice Department for further investigation. Firefighters quickly responded to each attack, deploying emergency vehicles and setting up a staging area for the victims on Place d’Armes.

The Fêtes de la Musique festival attracts millions of people each year, featuring a mix of professional and amateur musicians performing at various venues. This year, the event saw unprecedented crowds, with 50,000 attendees in Metz and a significant turnout in Paris. Despite warnings on social media about the syringe attacks, festival-goers were undeterred.

Reports indicate that 145 victims across the nation were stabbed with syringes, with Paris police investigating 13 cases in the capital. While the contents of the syringes remain unknown, concerns have been raised about the potential presence of date-rape drugs like Rohypnol or GHB. Three individuals have reported feeling unwell after being jabbed by the attackers.

The Interior Ministry confirmed the arrest of 12 suspects believed to be involved in the syringe attacks. Authorities suspect that the attackers targeted around 50 victims, with investigations ongoing. Some victims were taken to the hospital for toxicological tests to determine the contents of the syringes used in the attacks.

The disturbing incidents at the Fêtes de la Musique festival have raised concerns about public safety and security at large-scale events. As the investigation continues, authorities are working to ensure the safety of concertgoers and prevent similar attacks in the future.
