Super Eagles Goalkeeper Maduka Okoye Undergoes Successful Surgery

Udinese Calcio has announced that Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has undergone successful surgery to address a wrist injury sustained during a Serie A match against Genoa.

The club shared details on its official website, revealing that the procedure repaired damage to the scapholunate ligament in Okoye’s right wrist. The surgery was performed by Dr. Loris Pegoli at the renowned La Madonnina clinic in Milan and was declared a complete success.

Okoye, a key player for Udinese since his transfer from Watford, had to miss the team’s recent 2-1 win over Monza due to the injury. This season, the Nigerian international has played 15 matches across all competitions, securing four clean sheets and becoming an integral part of the squad.

“Maduka Okoye underwent surgery to repair the injury to the scapholunate ligament of his right wrist,” the club confirmed. “The operation, performed by Dr. Loris Pegoli at the ‘La Madonnina’ clinic in Milan, was a complete success. The footballer will begin rehabilitation in the coming weeks.”

Having experienced challenges at Watford after a standout spell with Sparta Rotterdam, Okoye has revitalised his career at Udinese. Now, as he embarks on his recovery journey, the Super Eagles goalkeeper is focused on returning to the pitch and strengthening his role within the team.
