Dorit Kemsley, a star on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, recently opened up about her decision not to tell her children about her split from her husband, PK. The couple announced their separation in May, with their marital issues unfolding on the new season of RHOBH. In a recent episode, Dorit confided in newcomer Bozoma Saint John that she had not yet informed her son Jagger, 10, and daughter Phoenix, 8, about the separation.

Explaining her reasoning on the RHOBH After Show, Dorit shared that she and PK had initially separated under the agreement to take some time apart and work through their issues in therapy. She felt that it was best not to involve the children in the situation until they had more clarity on their relationship status. Dorit emphasized that she wanted to provide honest answers to her children when they inevitably started asking questions about the separation.

Following the split, PK moved out of their Beverly Hills home, and Dorit chose to tell the kids that their dad was away on business. She mentioned that even before the separation, PK’s frequent travels for work provided a convenient cover story for any disagreements they had. Dorit expressed her willingness to discuss the separation with her children when they were ready to understand the situation.

During the RHOBH season 14 premiere, Dorit also revealed to Erika Jayne that PK had struggled with alcoholism, which had put a strain on their marriage. She described the situation as toxic and explained that the decision to separate was a mutual agreement reached after a minor disagreement escalated.

Despite the challenges they faced, Dorit emphasized that there was no single catastrophic event that led to the separation. Instead, it was a gradual realization that taking space and separating was the best course of action for both of them. Moving forward, Dorit remains open to addressing any questions her children may have about the situation, ensuring that they are informed and supported throughout the process. Recent studies have shown that a lack of sleep can have serious consequences on our overall health and well-being. From weight gain to cognitive decline, the effects of sleep deprivation are far-reaching and can significantly impact our daily lives.

One of the most immediate consequences of sleep deprivation is a decline in cognitive function. When we don’t get enough sleep, our brain’s ability to process information, make decisions, and solve problems is impaired. This can lead to difficulties concentrating, memory problems, and decreased productivity at work or school.

Furthermore, sleep deprivation has been linked to weight gain and obesity. When we are sleep-deprived, our bodies produce more of the hormone ghrelin, which stimulates appetite, and less of the hormone leptin, which signals feelings of fullness. This can lead to increased cravings for high-calorie and high-fat foods, as well as a slower metabolism, making it easier to gain weight.

In addition to cognitive and weight-related issues, sleep deprivation can also have serious implications for our physical health. Chronic lack of sleep has been associated with an increased risk of developing chronic conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and hypertension. This is because sleep plays a crucial role in regulating our body’s hormones and immune system, and when we don’t get enough of it, our bodies become more susceptible to illness and disease.

So, what can we do to combat sleep deprivation and its negative effects? The first step is to prioritize sleep and make it a non-negotiable part of our daily routine. This means going to bed at a consistent time each night, creating a relaxing bedtime routine, and avoiding stimulants like caffeine and electronics before bed.

It’s also important to create a sleep-friendly environment by keeping your bedroom dark, quiet, and cool, and investing in a comfortable mattress and pillows. Additionally, practicing relaxation techniques such as deep breathing or meditation can help calm your mind and prepare your body for sleep.

In conclusion, the consequences of sleep deprivation are serious and can have a significant impact on our physical, mental, and emotional well-being. By prioritizing sleep and making it a priority in our daily lives, we can improve our overall health and quality of life. So, let’s all commit to getting a good night’s sleep and reaping the many benefits it has to offer.
