The New York Police Department is currently seeking an arrest warrant for La’keysha Jackson, a 24-year-old city-funded babysitter who was caught on video brutally beating two young boys with a belt in the Bronx. The disturbing incident took place on May 6 in the family’s Morrisania building, where Jackson allegedly struck the children nearly 60 times as they cried out in pain.
Despite the family reporting the child abuse almost a month ago, Jackson has managed to evade law enforcement officers who have been actively searching for her. The NYPD’s efforts to locate Jackson have so far been unsuccessful, but they are hoping to secure an arrest warrant when a grand jury convenes on Wednesday. If issued, the warrant would allow authorities to forcibly enter Jackson’s apartment and take her into custody.
The footage of the incident, obtained by The Post, shows the heart-wrenching scene of Jackson whipping the young boys’ behinds with a belt as they try to defend themselves. The babysitter can be heard scolding the children for not cleaning their room before inflicting the violent punishment.
In a particularly disturbing clip, Jackson is seen wearing a Halloween mask from the horror movie “Terrifier II” and a Santa Claus outfit, seemingly trying to frighten the children. The family also reported that Jackson subjected their youngest son, who is only 2 years old, to her abusive behavior.
The children’s mother, Geraldine Jaramillo, revealed that Jackson was employed by home aid provider Selfhelp, which was contracted by the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) to provide babysitting services to struggling families. Jaramillo expressed her shock and horror at the abuse her children endured, both physically and emotionally, at the hands of Jackson.
Both ACS and Selfhelp have taken action in response to the incident. ACS confirmed that Jackson no longer works for Selfhelp and is cooperating with the NYPD’s investigation. Selfhelp stated that Jackson has been terminated and emphasized that they conduct thorough background checks and drug testing on all their employees.
The impact of the abuse on the children has been profound, with Jaramillo noting that they have become more aggressive towards each other since the incident. She is determined to seek justice for her sons and ensure that Jackson is held accountable for her actions.
As the investigation continues, the NYPD is committed to bringing Jackson to justice and providing support to the traumatized family. The community is rallying behind the Jaramillo family, offering support and solidarity as they navigate this difficult ordeal.
