Nkwanta South Municipal Chief Executive, Joseph Kwame Antwi Awal, has called for all parties involved in the conflict in the area to prioritize peace through dialogue rather than violence. He emphasized the importance of peace for the development of the Municipality.
In an effort to address the ongoing conflict, a high-level military delegation from the Southern Command, led by Brigadier General Isaac Nicholas Paintsil, engaged with leaders of various factions. The delegation stressed their neutrality and commitment to promoting peace and stability. They urged all parties to engage in dialogue to resolve their differences, cautioning that resorting to violence would only worsen the situation and impede progress.
Oti Regional Minister, Mr. John Kwadwo Gyapong, highlighted the ban on festivals within Nkwanta as a measure to ensure safety and security. He encouraged communities to organize events outside the township, emphasizing the importance of cultural expression while maintaining order. The Minister reiterated that true development in the area can only be achieved through collective efforts to restore peace.
Furthermore, Mr. Gyapong called on traditional leaders to play proactive roles in mediating between conflicting parties and promoting understanding among their people. He emphasized that by committing to peaceful coexistence, Nkwanta can unlock its full potential and pave the way for sustainable development and prosperity for all residents.
