Ex-teacher accused of child porn and sexual grooming
In December, a former teacher and school principal made an appearance at the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court for allegedly exposing children to pornography and engaging in sexual grooming with three school boys.
The 41-year-old individual faced charges of exposing pornography to children and engaging in sexual grooming with two 13-year-olds and one 15-year-old boy student from Raslouw Academy.
Lumauka Mahanjana, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) regional spokesperson, claimed that the ex-teacher had contacted the three boys in August 2024.
The accused allegedly sent explicit images of himself to the students and requested that they reciprocate by sending their own nude photos.
One of the victims reported the incident to a school teacher, who subsequently alerted the parents and prompted an investigation.
R10 000 bail
The suspect was granted bail in the amount of R10,000 on 31 December 2024, with the case being adjourned until 27 March 2025 for further inquiries.
