The 2025 Comrades Marathon is set to take place on Sunday, June 8th, 2025, marking the 98th edition of this iconic ultramarathon. Runners from around the world are invited to participate in this historic race, which traditionally draws athletes from nearly 75 countries. The race will cover a grueling 89km route between the cities of Pietermaritzburg and Durban, with the starting point at Pietermaritzburg City Hall and the finish line at Durban’s People’s Park.
Entries for the 2025 Comrades Marathon are now officially open, with a cap of 23,000 runners. The entry period will run from November 13th, 2024 to December 9th, 2024, or until the entry cap is reached. Aspiring participants are encouraged to register early to secure a spot in the race. Entry fees for the 2025 race remain the same as the previous years. South African entrants will pay R1,200, while entrants from the rest of Africa will pay R2,000. International entrants will pay R4,500. Holders of 25 or more Comrades medals will have their entry fee waived.
