Chelsea’s young talent Marc Guiu played a pivotal role in securing a crucial win for the Blues in the UEFA Conference League. The team traveled a grueling 3,600 miles to face Astana in Kazakhstan, braving freezing temperatures of -11°C.

Despite the challenging conditions, Chelsea put on a commanding performance, scoring three goals in the first half. Guiu, an 18-year-old Spanish youth international, opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a brilliant solo effort. Just minutes later, his shot was deflected in by Aleksandr Marochkin, giving Chelsea a comfortable lead.

Renato Veiga added a third goal with a header before halftime, while Astana’s Marin Tomasov scored a stunning strike to give the home side hope. The second half saw Chelsea manage the game well, maintaining their lead and securing the victory.

The win keeps Chelsea at the top of the UEFA Conference League standings with 15 points from five matches. The team will wrap up the league phase with a match against Shamrock Rovers on December 19.

Chelsea’s trip to Kazakhstan was a test of endurance, with the club embarking on their longest-ever European journey. The players coped with the seven-hour travel time and freezing temperatures, showcasing their adaptability and determination.

Manager Enzo Maresca’s squad rotation proved effective, with the team equaling a club record in European competitions. The flawless performance in the UEFA Conference League demonstrates the depth and quality of Chelsea’s squad.

Maresca made 10 changes to the starting lineup for the match against Astana, giving opportunities to young talents like Marc Guiu, Tyrique George, Josh Acheampong, and Samuel Rak-Sakyi. These fringe players impressed with their hunger and quality, proving their readiness to contribute when called upon.
