A 17-year-old boy has been arrested by Chicago police for a series of crimes that took place this month, including muggings on the CTA and an armed carjacking. The suspect, who was apprehended on Thursday, is facing multiple charges, including armed robbery with a firearm, robbery, aggravated vehicular hijacking with a firearm, and obstructing identification.
According to CPD, the teen’s crime spree began on March 13 when he allegedly stole property from two men, aged 25 and 38, while they were on a Blue Line train near the Western station. The attacks continued on March 21, where he used a firearm to rob a 16-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy on a Blue Line train near the Racine stop. Less than an hour later, he targeted a 57-year-old man on West Grenshaw Street, displaying a gun and stealing the man’s car.
Due to his juvenile status, the police have not released the boy’s identity, and it is unclear if detectives are searching for additional suspects in connection with these crimes.
