Investigation ongoing after the shooting of alleged underworld figure Andre Naudé
Crime scene experts and anti-gang unit detectives are currently investigating a case involving the murder of alleged underworld figure Andre Naudé in Cape Town. Naudé, who was previously targeted in shootings and had expressed concerns about his safety, was fatally shot in Parow on Thursday afternoon.
According to Police spokesperson Captain Frederick van Wyk, the incident took place on Voortrekker Road when a vehicle pulled up next to Naudé and his friends, firing several shots. The attack resulted in the death of a 55-year-old man, while a 61-year-old man sustained injuries. Two other individuals, aged 45 and 54, managed to escape unharmed.
The wounded victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment and is currently under police guard. The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation, with a case of murder and three attempted murders opened for further examination. No arrests have been made at this time.
Naudé, who was embroiled in a murder trial involving steroid king Brian Wainstein, was also linked to underworld figures Jerome ‘Donkie’ Booysen and Mark Lifman. Lifman, a business partner of Naudé and Booysen, was tragically killed seven months prior in the parking lot of the Garden Route Mall.
Booysen arrived at the scene following Lifman’s murder and both he and Naudé attended court proceedings for the accused individuals, Johannes Jacobs and Gert “Johnny” Bezuidenhout, charged with the premeditated murder of Lifman. Lifman, who was out on bail for Wainstein’s murder at the time of his death, was believed to be a key player in the city’s nightclub security extortion racket.
The investigation into Naudé’s murder continues, with authorities urging anyone with information to come forward. Detective Sergeant Karl Jooste can be contacted at 071 300 5029, or individuals may reach out to Crime Stop at 08600 10111 if they have any relevant details about the incident.
