The Airtel Africa Foundation Launches ‘Tech For Her’ Program to Empower Women in Tech
The Airtel Africa Foundation recently introduced its groundbreaking initiative, ‘Tech For Her’, designed to empower young women in Zambia, Uganda, and Kenya with essential digital skills. This initiative aims to bridge the gender gap in the technology sector and encourage more female participation in the digital economy.
Program Overview
The ‘Tech For Her’ program is a five-week intensive online training program that focuses on three key areas: Linux Administration, Cybersecurity, and Data Analytics. Participants will undergo over 100 hours of guided learning, delivered through a flexible model that caters to both working professionals and full-time students. Weekend sessions are available for employed individuals, while weekday classes are designed for those not currently employed.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the program, candidates must meet the following criteria:
– Women aged between 18-40 years
– Possess basic digital literacy
– Hold a minimum of a national diploma or its equivalent in Science, Technology, or a related field
Support and Opportunities
Upon completion of the program, graduates will receive 12 months of continuous skill development support. Top performers, scoring 90% or higher, will have the opportunity for internships at Airtel Africa and structured mentorship from industry leaders. The program also allocates 30% of training slots for women in rural and underserved communities, with 40% of seats reserved for applicants from low-income households.
