Athletic Bilbao Forward Iñaki Williams Excited for UEFA Champions League Return

Athletic Bilbao forward Iñaki Williams has expressed his excitement following the UEFA Champions League group stage draw, emphasizing the significance of the club’s return to Europe’s premier competition for both the team and its supporters.

The upcoming season will see the Basque club face off against some of the continent’s top teams at San Mamés, a prospect that Williams believes is truly special and one that fans should relish.

“The best teams in Europe will grace the San Mamés, giving Athletic fans a reason to be thrilled,” remarked the Ghana international. “We also have exciting away trips lined up, and we are prepared to meet these challenges head-on, just as we have in recent years. It will be an exciting journey, and we are eager to see how far we can go.”

After a lengthy absence, Athletic Bilbao is making a return to the Champions League, offering many players in the current squad a first-time experience in the prestigious tournament.

“It has been quite a while since we last heard the Champions League anthem. With the exception of Yuri, most of us have never had the opportunity to play in this competition. We are eagerly anticipating the moment when we will hear the anthem once again and witness the excitement it brings to our fans,” Williams added.

As a key figure in Athletic’s attacking lineup, Williams views this campaign as a blend of challenge and celebration, with San Mamés set to host memorable Champions League nights under the floodlights.
