US Approves Over $5.5 Billion in Arms Sales to Egypt and Morocco
The United States has recently authorized more than $5.5 billion in arms sales to Egypt and Morocco, with the aim of bolstering their defense capabilities and strengthening strategic partnerships. This significant deal includes a range of military equipment and weaponry for both countries.
Arms Sales Details
Under the approved agreement, Egypt is set to receive $630 million worth of Lockheed Martin Hellfire missiles, spare parts, and training, as well as $30 million worth of Advanced Precision Kill Weapon Systems (APKWS). In addition, Egypt will acquire equipment valued at $4.69 billion to support its M1A1 Abrams tank fleet, which is co-produced with the US.
Meanwhile, Morocco has been granted approval to purchase 500 GBU-39B Small Diameter Bombs worth $86 million and $88.4 million worth of AIM-120C-8 air-to-air missiles for its F-16V jets. These acquisitions are aimed at enhancing Morocco’s defense capabilities and strengthening its air force.

The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency emphasized that these arms sales align with US foreign policy objectives and will contribute to regional stability and security for both Egypt and Morocco.
