Timothy Weah Opens Up About “Weird” Experience Standing Behind Trump in Oval Office

U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team star Timothy Weah has recently shared his experience of standing behind President Donald Trump in the Oval Office, describing it as “weird.” Weah was at the White House with his Juventus teammates for a promotional event when Trump fielded questions on the Iran-Israel war and transgender women in sports.

During the event, Trump invited questions from reporters about the FIFA Club World Cup and the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. However, the conversation quickly shifted to more pressing political issues, leaving the Juventus players feeling uncomfortable as they stood behind the president.

As the son of former Liberian soccer star and president George Weah, Timothy Weah later explained to reporters that the players had been obligated to attend the event. “They told us that we have to go and I had no choice but to go,” he said. Reflecting on the experience, Weah admitted, “I was caught by surprise, honestly. It was a bit weird. When he started talking about politics with Iran and everything, it’s kind of like, I just want to play football, man.”

Despite the unexpected turn of events, Weah and his teammates focused on their upcoming match, where Juventus secured a 5-0 victory over Al-Ain FC. The player’s priority remains on the pitch, where he excels as a talented soccer star, rather than engaging in political discussions in the Oval Office.
