The prestigious Trace Awards & Summit 2025 has concluded, shining a spotlight on the incredible musical talents of Africa and its diaspora. The event celebrated the best in African music while acknowledging the profound impact of the continent’s artistry on the global stage.
The winners of the evening were a diverse group of artists who showcased their exceptional talent and creativity. South African duo Tito & Huppe took home the coveted Song of the Year award for their infectious anthem “Tswhala Bam,” which has been setting dance floors on fire around the world. Nigerian superstar Rema clinched the Album of the Year award for his critically acclaimed album “Heis,” a fusion of Afrobeats and global influences.
Ivorian hitmakers Tam Sir & Team Paiya were recognized for their explosive collaboration “Coup du Marteau,” winning the Best Collaboration award. The visionary Meji Alabi was honored with the Best Music Video award for his stunning direction of “DND.” South Africa’s Makhadzi was crowned Best Dancer, showcasing her undeniable skill on the dance floor.
Algerian sensation DJ Moh Green was named Best DJ, while Tanzanian icon Diamond Platnumz was awarded Best Global African Artist. Ivory Coast’s Didi B took home the title of Best Hip Hop Artist, while South Africa’s Tyla was recognized as the Best Female Artist.
The evening also saw accolades for Best Live Performance (Fally Ipupa), Best Producer (P.Priime), Best Gospel Artist (Mercy Chinwo), and Best Artist Francophone Africa (Josey), among others. The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Nigerian legend D’Banj for his enduring impact on the African music industry.
