Matchday 10 of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League saw top title contenders Vipers SC and KCCA both dropping points, allowing NEC to maintain their lead at the top of the standings.
KCCA, who have been struggling to find form in recent matches, were held to a 1-1 draw away to Lugazi. Despite taking the lead through Sadat Anaku in the second half, Derrick Mwanje’s late goal for Lugazi ensured that KCCA had to settle for a point.
Meanwhile, Vipers SC failed to break down a resilient Kitara side in a goalless draw at Kitende. Despite dominating possession and creating chances, Vipers were unable to find the back of the net, with Allan Okello hitting the post in the first half.
With these results, KCCA remain in third place with 19 points, while Vipers sit in second place with 21 points, just one behind leaders NEC. NEC secured a crucial 2-1 victory over defending champions SC Villa to maintain their position at the top of the table.
Kitara, on the other hand, put in a spirited performance to earn a valuable point against Vipers, moving them to eight points but still in the relegation zone. Despite their recent struggles, KCCA, Vipers, and NEC are separated by just one point, setting up an exciting title race in the Uganda Premier League.
