Man Fatally Shot During North Side Apartment Shootout

CHICAGO — Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred during a shootout in a North Side apartment overnight. According to authorities, a 32-year-old man was killed in the exchange of gunfire, and two suspects are currently at large after fleeing the scene in a vehicle.

The incident took place in the 6400 block of North Richmond around 2:43 a.m. when the victim and two other men engaged in an argument that escalated into violence inside the apartment. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Reports suggest that alcohol may have been a factor leading up to the shooting, as bullet holes were found in the apartment walls and a firearm was recovered by investigators.

Descriptions of the suspects provided by an officer on the scene indicate that they are two Black men aged between 25 and 30. One suspect is described as tall and skinny with dreadlocks, wearing a blue and black jacket, while the other was seen in a dark jacket.
