Russia Says Told US Not To 'Use Force' In Yemen And Begin Dialogue

Russia has made it clear to the United States that they should refrain from using force in Yemen and instead focus on engaging in political dialogue. This message was conveyed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to his US counterpart Marco Rubio during a phone call on Saturday.

According to Moscow, Rubio informed Lavrov about the US decision to launch strikes against Yemen’s Huthis. The call took place as part of the ongoing dialogue between the two countries since Donald Trump assumed office.

Lavrov emphasized the importance of all parties involved in the conflict in Yemen to immediately stop using force and to prioritize political dialogue in order to find a solution that would prevent further bloodshed. Russia has been critical of US and British strikes on Yemen in the past and has been in talks with the Huthis, who are supported by Russia’s ally Iran.

It is clear that Russia is advocating for a diplomatic solution to the crisis in Yemen, urging all parties to engage in dialogue rather than resorting to military action. This approach aligns with efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.

As the situation in Yemen remains precarious, it is essential for all stakeholders to work towards a peaceful resolution through dialogue and negotiation. By heeding Russia’s advice to avoid the use of force and prioritize political solutions, there is hope for a peaceful and sustainable outcome in Yemen.
