Rocky Dawuni, a well-known Ghanaian reggae and Afro-Roots artist, has recently secured his fourth Grammy nomination, solidifying his position as the most nominated Ghanaian artist in Grammy history.
His journey towards this achievement began in 2015 when his album “Branches of the Same Tree” received a nomination in the ‘Best Reggae Album’ category. In 2021, his album “Voice of Bunbon Vol. 1” was recognized in the ‘Best Global Music Album’ category, while his song “Never Bow Down” was nominated for ‘Best Global Music Performance’ at the 2023 Grammy Awards.
This year, Dawuni’s latest album “Rise” is competing with other international talents in the ‘Best Global Music Album’ category. His fellow nominees include Angélique Kidjo & Soweto Gospel Choir, Arooj Aftab, Jacob Collier featuring Anoushka Shankar & Varijashree Venugopal, Masa Takumi featuring Ron Korb, Noshir Mody & Dale Edward Chung, and Sheila E. featuring Gloria Estefan & Mimy Succar.
However, Ghana did not have a presence in the ‘Best African Music Performance’ category, with nominees such as Asake & Wizkid, Burna Boy, Chris Brown featuring Davido & Lojay, Tems, and Yemi Alade.
The 2025 Grammy Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on 2nd February 2024 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, USA.
This marks Rocky Dawuni’s fourth Grammy nomination, following his previous nominations for ‘Best Global Music Album’ in 2022 and ‘Best Reggae Album’ in 2015. His consistent recognition by the Grammy Awards showcases his talent and dedication to his craft.
His latest nomination comes after the release of his sixth studio album, ‘Branches of The Same Tree,’ which received a Grammy nomination for ‘Best Reggae Album’ in December 2015.
Rocky Dawuni continues to make waves in the music industry, and his Grammy nominations are a testament to his artistry and influence on the global music scene.
