PSG to Close Part of Parc des Princes Following Homophobic Chants
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) will be required to close part of the Parc des Princes for their upcoming Ligue 1 match against Toulouse next month, following homophobic chants by fans during a recent game.
The incident took place on 19 October during PSG’s 4-2 victory over Strasbourg, where fans directed chants at Marseille midfielder Adrien Rabiot.
Rabiot, who previously played for PSG from 2012 to 2019, made a move to Marseille on a free transfer in September after departing Juventus.
Just eight days later, PSG secured a 3-0 win over Marseille at the Stade Velodrome.
In response to the incident, the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) has mandated that PSG close the Auteuil stand, known for hosting many ultras supporters.
However, this measure will not come into effect until 5 November, allowing PSG’s upcoming match against Lens to proceed without any changes.
The Auteuil stand closure will be implemented when Toulouse comes to visit on 22 November.
This latest sanction adds to previous penalties, with four PSG players receiving one-match suspensions last season for their involvement in offensive chants following a win over Marseille.
