Armed Robbers Strike Adabraka Market, Escape with Sacks of Money

Eyewitnesses at the bustling Adabraka market in Accra, Ghana, were left in shock as armed robbers carried out a brazen attack, targeting a Toyota Corolla carrying large sacks of cash. The robbers, brandishing guns, fired shots into the air to create chaos and disperse the crowd. Panic quickly spread as shoppers and vendors scrambled for cover, seeking safety behind stalls and in hiding spots.

The burglars wasted no time in forcefully entering the vehicle and seizing the bags of money stored inside. In a matter of minutes, they had loaded the cash into their getaway vehicle and fled the scene, firing shots to dissuade any onlookers from intervening.

One eyewitness shared their harrowing experience, stating, “We deal in gold here, and we heard a loud noise and realised it was sporadic shooting. I can’t even talk, I’m surprised; we hid and locked our gate, but they didn’t come to our end. We heard them saying ‘open the boot,’ and we saw them carrying bags of money from some of the shops. They spent only a few minutes.”

Another witness recounted a similar account, mentioning, “There are several gold dealer shops here, so one of the shop owners had bags of money in his Toyota Corolla. As soon as he arrived, the robbers approached the car and took the money. This is the second time such an incident has happened. The police came in late; by the time they arrived, the armed robbers had escaped with the bags of money in their Toyota Highlander. They fired several shots and scattered some money in the air to distract and scare people away.”

In response to the incident, the Ghana Police issued a statement reassuring the public that justice would be served. A manhunt is underway to apprehend the armed robbers responsible for the brazen attack on the Adabraka market.

The shocking robbery serves as a stark reminder of the need for heightened security measures in busy marketplaces to protect both traders and shoppers from such criminal activities. The authorities are working diligently to ensure the safety and security of all individuals in the community.
