The homicide unit of the Ghana Police Service recently conducted an operation that led to the discovery and exhumation of multiple human remains buried in a shrine at Gblorkope in the Central Tongu District. This operation was in response to the suspected ritual murder and disappearance of 28-year-old Nelson Anyana.

The breakthrough in the case of Nelson’s alleged murder came after Police Detectives from the Homicide Unit in Ho, accompanied by three key suspects, searched a property believed to be used for ritual purposes. The body of Nelson Anyana, who had been missing since December 2024, was found buried in a Gblorkope shrine, confirming the suspicions of ritual murder.

During the search, the Police also uncovered three additional skeletal remains buried under different idols at the same location, as well as assorted human body parts buried in nearby bushes. This discovery raised concerns that the site may have been used for serial ritual killings.

Six individuals have been arrested and charged in connection with the alleged murder of Nelson. The suspects include Augustina Fiawoyife, Wisdom Hedidor, Courage Bedzo, Gblor Noah, Gblor John, and Gblor Johannes, who are all residents of Mafi Adidome and operators of the Gblorkope shrine.

According to Police investigations, the case began when Comfort Hatse, the mother of the deceased, reported Nelson missing on December 17, 2024. It was later revealed that Augustina Fiawoyife, who was in a relationship with Wisdom Hedidor, plotted with him to kill Nelson out of jealousy.

On December 12, 2024, Augustina lured Nelson to a secluded area where he was ambushed and strangled to death by Hedidor and Bedzo. The body was then sold to the fetish priest, Gblor Noah, for ritual purposes before being buried in the shrine.

Following the recovery of Nelson Anyana’s remains and those of other unidentified individuals, all six suspects appeared before a District Court in Ho, facing charges of abetment of murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Further forensic analysis is underway to determine the identities of the additional victims and to bring appropriate charges against the suspects.

The discovery of the human remains has sparked outrage and fear among residents of the Central Tongu District, with many calling for swift justice and a broader investigation into possible ritualistic networks in the region. The Ghana Police Service has assured the public of its commitment to thoroughly investigate the case and ensure that all perpetrators face the full consequences of the law.
