President John Mahama recently met with the Overlord of Dagbon state, His Royal Majesty Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama II, to discuss his government’s plans to empower the youth of the Northern region of Ghana. The National Apprenticeship Programme, which was recently launched by the president, will focus on equipping young individuals with skills such as carpentry, welding, tailoring, shea butter processing, and agribusiness. This initiative aims to provide the youth with employable skills that will enable them to secure gainful employment and contribute to the development of the region.
In addition to the training program, President Mahama also revealed plans to establish a pilot 24-hour economy zone in the Northern region. This initiative is part of the government’s efforts to invest in the development of the northern part of the country and create opportunities for economic growth and prosperity.
