Midway Hospital to Enhance Diagnostic Infrastructure and Expand Clinical Spaces in Next Five Years
As part of its 45th anniversary celebrations, Midway Hospital has announced plans to invest in enhanced diagnostic infrastructure and expanded clinical spaces over the next five years. Medical Director Dr (Mrs) Gifty Quarshie-Ngissah made the announcement during the hospital’s anniversary event in Accra, which was held under the theme “Honouring a legacy, advancing a vision: 45 years of transforming lives.”
Honouring Founder and Celebrating Milestones
The anniversary celebrations also included the unveiling of a bust in honour of the hospital’s founder, Dr Joseph Ameni Quarshie. Activities marking the milestone include free National Health Insurance Scheme registration for residents of Okaikoi North, a staff thanksgiving service, and year-long health education programmes for schools and corporate organisations.
Building on a Legacy of Care
Dr Quarshie-Ngissah reflected on the hospital’s 45-year journey, highlighting the legacy of faith, sacrifice, and patient-centred care. She emphasized the hospital’s commitment to strengthening reproductive health services, deepening community and strategic partnerships, and enhancing staff capacity through development and specialisation.
Reaffirming the hospital’s vision for the future, Dr Quarshie-Ngissah stated, “A Future of Endless Possibilities,” emphasizing the importance of visionary leadership, resilient teams, and collaborative partnerships in providing world-class care to every patient.
Empowering Private Health Institutions
Dr Robert Amesiya, Greater Accra Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service, called on the government to allocate more resources to high-performing private health institutions. He emphasized that empowering such providers is essential for improving national healthcare outcomes.
