31-Year-Old Man Arrested for Attempted Abduction Near Mountain Range High School
A 31-year-old man has been arrested and charged with aggravated robbery, kidnapping, and attempted kidnapping after allegedly trying to abduct a student walking near Mountain Range High School, as reported by the Westminster Police Department.
The incident took place on the morning of Oct. 25, when a girl was walking to school near West 125th Avenue and Delaware Street. She reported that a man in a silver vehicle approached her, threatened her with a gun, and demanded that she get in the car.
Thankfully, the girl refused, and the man resorted to grabbing her backpack before fleeing the scene, according to police officials.
The suspect, identified as Jeremiah Mullins, was apprehended in the 12000 block of North Melody Drive a few hours later, as confirmed by Westminster police in a news release on Friday.
In addition to the charges of aggravated robbery, kidnapping, and attempted kidnapping, Mullins is also facing charges of aggravated motor vehicle theft and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.
It was revealed that Mullins had a previous arrest in 2019 for kidnapping an Aurora woman while she was warming up her car. Following that incident, he pleaded guilty to attempted aggravated robbery and was sentenced to 12 years in prison, as per court records. Details regarding his release from prison were not immediately available.
Currently, Mullins is being held on a $1 million cash bail.
