Banana Air: A Hilarious Journey Aboard a Chaotic Low-Cost Airline
Real-life couple Kaz McFadden and Lara Lourens are set to charm audiences in Willie Esterhuizen’s latest comedy series, Banana Air.
Produced by Westel Productions, the show takes viewers on a hilarious journey aboard a chaotic low-cost airline run by a team of quirky and eccentric characters.
From clumsy pilots to eccentric flight attendants, the team navigates through uproarious situations both in the air and on the ground.
Kaz McFadden shines as Brandt Vogel, the airline’s cocky new pilot with a penchant for flirting.
“Brandt is a character who is comfortable in his own skin. He has two passions in life – flying and women. He’s a harmless flirt who adds a touch of comedy to the show,” said McFadden.
McFadden not only stars in the show but also takes on the role of a dialogue coach behind the scenes.
“Working with the Esterhuizens is like being paid to go on holiday – little pressure and lots of fun,” he added.
Lara Lourens lights up the screen as Koekie Koekemoer, a business-class flight attendant who also moonlights as a belly dancer.
“Koekie Koekemoer is a character close to my heart. Despite all the chaos at Banana Air, she remains grateful for her job and her place in the team,” said Lourens.
Lourens enjoyed working alongside her real-life partner, Kaz McFadden, on the show.
“It was nice to act opposite my boyfriend. We had so many memorable moments on set that still make me giggle,” she shared.
The creative partnership between Kaz McFadden and Lara Lourens extends beyond Banana Air. Together with actor and producer Zack Mtombeni, they run The Third Law, a production company currently working on a Showmax drama.
McFadden revealed that he will also be making regular appearances on Showmax in the near future.
“My plan is to keep entertaining people on the screen for a long time to come,” he said.
