The Lions and Cheetahs are both eager to secure their first wins in the Challenge Cup after facing tough opponents in their opening matches. The Lions suffered a defeat against Ospreys, while the Cheetahs managed a draw against Perpignan. Now, they are determined to turn things around and claim victory in their upcoming games.

The Lions will be facing Section Paloise (Pau) at Ellis Park, while the Cheetahs will be taking on Cardiff in Wales. Both teams are looking to put on a strong performance and secure their first win in the competition.

The Lions, under the guidance of head coach Ivan van Rooyen, are back to full strength for their match against Pau. The team is relying on home support as they aim to bounce back from their previous defeat. The coaching staff has taken a rotational approach, including key players who featured in previous matches to ensure cohesion and alignment on the field.

In the Lions’ lineup, Marius Louw will lead from the inside centre position, alongside Erich Cronje. The back three will be formed by Rabz Maxwane, Edwill van der Merwe, and Tapiwa Mafura. Among the forwards, WJ Steenkamp, Jarod Cairns, and Francke Horn will play crucial roles in the team’s performance.

Assistant coach Ricardo Loubscher emphasizes the importance of recovery and cohesion leading up to the match. The team is focused on putting up a good performance and executing their game plan effectively against Pau.

On the other hand, the Cheetahs are looking to maintain continuity in their game against Cardiff. After a draw in their previous match, the team is eager to end their tour on a high note. Coach Sakkie van der Westhuizen is focused on the team’s forward pack and has high standards for their performance.

The Cheetahs have made just two changes to their starting lineup, with Oupa Mohoje and Cohen Jasper coming into the team. The rest of the lineup remains unchanged as they aim to dominate up front and improve their attacking and defensive capabilities.

Both teams are determined to secure their first wins in the Challenge Cup and will be looking to put on strong performances in their upcoming matches. Fans can expect an exciting display of rugby as the Lions and Cheetahs hunt for victory in the competition.
