Splashes of Color Transform Abidjan’s Urban Landscape
The Plateau district in Abidjan, Ivory Coast’s economic hub, is undergoing a vibrant transformation with the emergence of colorful graffiti art.
Previously seen with disdain, graffiti has now found acceptance among Ivorians, leading to an increase in murals adorning city walls.
The recent “Ivory Graff Graffiti Festival” brought together 40 national and international artists who spent two weeks in November creating stunning 300-meter-long artworks.
Benjamin Le Lieve, president of Graff Ivoire, the festival organizer, expressed pride in launching this new initiative.

Passers-by have been captivated by the transformation taking place in the urban center, with many expressing approval for the efforts to revamp the area.
Michael Bende, an Ivorian citizen, noted, “It brings a change to the city of Abidjan.”
South African artist Dbongz Mahlathi shared, “The graffiti I’ve created isn’t for me… it’s for the people who will see it every day.”
Witness the colorful revolution in Abidjan as the city’s walls become vibrant canvases for artistic expression.
