Progressive leniency strikes again, this time in Colorado and New York. In Colorado, a 15-year-old illegal immigrant was let off the hook after causing a fatal car crash that resulted in the death of a 24-year-old woman. The prosecutor’s decision to give the teen just two years of probation and 100 hours of community service has sparked outrage, especially from the victim’s family.
In New York, a 15-year-old member of a notorious gang was arrested for robbing a 16-year-old autistic boy on Staten Island. Despite being arrested 12 times before, the juvenile offender faces no real consequences due to progressive policies that prevent underage perpetrators from facing adult punishment.
The lax immigration policies implemented by the Biden administration have also contributed to the rise in crime committed by illegal immigrants. With little vetting and enforcement of the law, the impact of these policies will likely be felt for years to come.
In both cases, the lack of accountability for juvenile offenders is a major concern. Laws like the Raise the Age act in New York prevent teens under 18 from facing serious consequences for their actions, allowing them to continue their criminal behavior without fear of punishment.
The victims’ families, as well as law enforcement officials, are frustrated with the leniency shown towards these young criminals. The Colombian teen involved in the fatal car crash received a lenient plea deal from the district attorney, much to the dismay of the victim’s father.
It is clear that the current progressive approach to law enforcement and juvenile justice is failing to protect the public and deliver justice to victims. Until there is a change in policy or a shift in the political landscape, these criminals will continue to roam the streets, posing a threat to society. It is up to voters to demand accountability and ensure that those responsible for crimes are held responsible for their actions.
