The Ghana Armwrestling Federation is all set to host its annual Independence Day Armwrestling challenge, known as the “Battle for Independence,” on March 7 in Accra. This highly anticipated event will showcase the strength, skill, and patriotism of Ghana’s top armwrestlers as they compete for supremacy against athletes from neighbouring countries.
The tournament will feature a range of weight categories, with competitors vying for medals, prizes, and the ultimate bragging rights. Guest pullers from Nigeria, Benin, and Togo will add an international flair to the competition, creating an electrifying atmosphere for both participants and spectators.
One of the biggest highlights of the event is the lineup of star-studded Ghanaian armwrestlers, including Grace Minta, Africa’s top female armwrestler. Minta will go head-to-head with the best female armwrestlers from Ghana and West Africa, promising an exciting and fiercely competitive showdown.
Other notable participants include rising star Mabel Yeboah, seasoned athlete Daniel Acquah, dominant force Henry Otoo, fan favorite Prince Affum, Charles Osei Asibey Jnr, Afia Kumah from the Ghana Police Service, and Issah Kunya from the 3C Club. The Nigerian contingent will be represented by top armwrestlers such as Sarah Matthews, Blessing Ogunbure, and Chinedu Isama.
Benin will showcase its talent with African Games double gold medalist Marie Rose Laleye, Sébastien Kpaloko, and Marcel Vitchoedo, while Togo will be led by Amou Amouzou Honoré and Tchagbeleou Razak.
President Charles Osei Asibey expressed his excitement for this year’s Independence Armwrestling challenge, promising a bigger and better event than ever before.
