Hunter Biden Pleads Guilty to Tax Charges to Avoid Trial

Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, has pleaded guilty in Los Angeles to nine federal tax charges in order to avoid a trial. The charges include three felonies and six misdemeanors related to failing to file and pay $1.4 million in taxes, filing falsely, and claiming fraudulent business deductions.
The House Oversight Committee uncovered that the Biden family and associates received over $20 million from overseas entities, including China and Russia. The indictment alleges that Hunter Biden used this money for personal expenses such as drugs and prostitutes, without paying taxes.
Hunter Biden entered an Alford plea, where he maintains innocence while acknowledging that there is enough evidence for a guilty verdict. This plea allows him to avoid a public trial that could have exposed details of his activities during the period of alleged tax fraud.
Previously, Hunter Biden was investigated for securities fraud by the Securities and Exchange Commission and was found guilty of felony gun charges for lying about drug use on a gun purchase form. He is awaiting sentencing for the gun charges, which could result in up to 25 years in prison and $750,000 in fines.
Hunter Biden’s sentencing for the gun charges is scheduled for November 13, just a week after the 2024 presidential election.
