The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, expressed strong disapproval of the recent attack on medical staff at Ridge Hospital during a press conference at the Ministry of Health.

Akandoh emphasized his support for healthcare workers, stating, “Nobody has the right to attack any health professional, regardless of the circumstances.”

Committee Formed to Investigate Hospital Incident

In response to the incident, the Minister formed an independent committee comprising diverse professionals to investigate the matter and provide recommendations for action.

Minister Addresses Controversial Handshake

Akandoh defended his handshake with the alleged perpetrator, clarifying that it was a gesture of civility and not an endorsement of the individual’s actions.

The Minister criticized union leaders for inciting tension and outlined the Ministry’s achievements, including efforts towards free primary healthcare, prompt payment of insurance claims, and the introduction of new medical equipment.

Focus on the Future

In conclusion, Akandoh reaffirmed his commitment to serving Ghana and addressing healthcare challenges, despite distractions or criticisms.
