Sporting Lisbon forward Viktor Gyökeres had a night to remember as he led his team to a stunning 4-1 victory over Manchester City, courtesy of his remarkable hat-trick performance. Gyökeres was beaming with joy after the match, describing the night as “brilliant” for the team as they secured a crucial win in the Champions League.

In an interview with UEFA, Gyökeres expressed his delight at scoring a hat-trick, stating, “It’s always nice to score and even better to score a hat-trick. The most important thing was to win the game, so it was a brilliant night for us.”

The Swedish striker acknowledged the tough challenge that Manchester City presented and admitted that Sporting Lisbon didn’t start the game well. However, as the match progressed, Gyökeres found his stride and capitalized on the spaces in City’s defense to make a significant impact.

Reflecting on the intense encounter, Gyökeres recognized the back-and-forth nature of the game. “They could have scored more as well,” he admitted. “You need to raise your level when you play better opponents. I tried to keep doing what I’ve been doing.”

Gyökeres’s exceptional form was evident throughout the match, and his hat-trick was the icing on the cake for Sporting Lisbon as they celebrated a hard-fought victory over a top European team.

The performance of Gyökeres and his teammates showcased their determination and skill, highlighting their potential in the Champions League. With this impressive win under their belt, Sporting Lisbon will be looking to build on this success as they continue their campaign in Europe’s premier club competition.
