Introducing Gwen Madiba: The New Editor in-Chief of Rolling Stone Africa

Rolling Stone Africa, the continental edition of the legendary American cultural magazine, is proud to announce the appointment of Gwen Madiba as its new Editor in-Chief. With a background in journalism, social impact, and cultural diplomacy, Madiba represents a new chapter for this iconic media brand in Africa.

Rolling Stone Africa is a collaborative effort between Rolling Stone and MWANKOM Group, a media and innovation platform dedicated to promoting Afro-centric content and narratives. This partnership aims to amplify African voices and talent across the continent and the diaspora.

Gwen Madiba brings a unique editorial vision to Rolling Stone Africa, shaped by her exceptional journey in journalism and advocacy. As the founder of the Equal Chance Foundation, she garnered global attention for her humanitarian efforts during the Ukraine war crisis, aiding thousands of vulnerable individuals.

Prior to her role at Rolling Stone Africa, Madiba held senior editorial positions at international publications, focusing on impactful storytelling at the intersection of culture, music, fashion, and social change.

In her own words, Madiba expressed her enthusiasm for the new role: “As a proud person of African descent, I am deeply honored to be named the first Editor in Chief of Rolling Stone Africa. Together, we are committed to portraying the authenticity and brilliance of our artists and people, contributing to a powerful narrative of Africa.”

David Romuald Bellegarde-Smeralda, CEO of Rolling Stone Africa, welcomed Madiba’s appointment as a significant milestone for the magazine’s editorial future. He emphasized her leadership qualities and Afrocentric perspective, highlighting the impact she will bring to the publication.
