Republican Gabe Evans Maintains Lead Over U.S. Rep. Yadira Caraveo in Colorado’s 8th Congressional District Race
Republican state Rep. Gabe Evans is holding onto his lead over U.S. Rep. Yadira Caraveo in a closely contested race to represent Colorado’s 8th Congressional District. As of Saturday afternoon, Evans has garnered about 48.9% of the 313,676 ballots counted so far, while Caraveo trails closely behind with 48.3% of the votes.
The 8th Congressional District, encompassing parts of Adams, Larimer, and Weld counties, is crucial in the ongoing battle for control of the House of Representatives, where Republicans aim to maintain their narrow majority.
Evans surged ahead of Caraveo on Friday, but with a significant number of ballots still awaiting tabulation in Adams County, where Caraveo currently leads by over 20,000 votes, the race remains highly competitive. Larimer and Weld counties have already completed their initial ballot counts.
Representatives from both campaigns remain optimistic about their candidate’s chances. Alan Philp, speaking on behalf of Evans’ campaign, expressed confidence in the candidate’s lead, expecting the ballot counting to conclude by Saturday evening. Kevin Porter from Caraveo’s team acknowledged the tight race, emphasizing that the outcome is too close to call at this point.
With the final results yet to be determined, the suspense continues to build in Colorado’s 8th Congressional District race, as each vote plays a pivotal role in shaping the future representation of the district.
