Kenfield Griffith, the CEO and Co-Founder of tappi, has introduced a new digital commerce SaaS solution specifically designed for service-based businesses in Kenya. Launched in 2022 alongside Louis Majanja, tappi aims to provide these businesses with the tools they need to establish a strong online presence and attract and retain customers.

In a recent interview, Griffith highlighted the unique challenges faced by service-based businesses in the digital space. While retail businesses have access to a variety of platforms that cater to their needs, service-based businesses often struggle to find software solutions that address their specific requirements. This gap in the market inspired Griffith to create tappi, a platform that focuses on bringing service-based businesses online and helping them showcase their professionalism.

Unlike traditional e-commerce platforms that simply digitize businesses, tappi positions itself as the “on-ramp to the actual Internet.” By providing businesses with a user-friendly website, integrated payment gateway, and a range of marketing tools, tappi enables service-based businesses to connect with customers, promote their services, and build trust online.

One of tappi’s key value propositions is its emphasis on professionalism. Griffith believes that in order to succeed in the digital space, businesses must not only be present online but also project a professional image. By offering a comprehensive suite of tools, including social media ads, bulk SMS messaging, and customer review requests, tappi helps businesses enhance their online credibility and attract new customers.

Service-based businesses such as barbers, dentists, and therapists have already seen success with tappi. The platform’s all-in-one approach streamlines the process of establishing an online presence, saving businesses time and money compared to hiring individual professionals to build and maintain a website.

In addition to serving businesses, tappi has also proven to be a profitable venture. Total transactions on the platform have exceeded $3.4 million, with businesses servicing over 180,000 customers. In December 2024, tappi secured a $1.5 million pre-seed investment, which will be used to expand the platform’s reach, forge new partnerships with banks and fintech companies, and enhance branding and marketing efforts.

Griffith’s background in design and computation, coupled with his experience building successful enterprise SaaS solutions like Ajua, has positioned tappi for growth and success. By leveraging existing business expenses such as data bundles and bank fees to bundle tappi’s subscription, Griffith believes the platform’s business model is scalable and poised for further expansion.

As tappi continues to empower service-based businesses in Kenya and beyond, Griffith remains committed to helping these enterprises thrive in the digital age. With a focus on professionalism, accessibility, and affordability, tappi is poised to revolutionize the way service-based businesses engage with customers and grow their online presence. With the success of Ajua, there is hope that the same level of achievement can be replicated with tappi. Ajua has set a high standard in the industry, providing exceptional services and innovative solutions to its customers. Tappi, a new player in the market, is looking to follow in Ajua’s footsteps and make a name for itself.

One of the key factors in Ajua’s success is their focus on customer satisfaction. They have built a strong reputation for delivering top-notch service and ensuring that their customers are happy with the results. Tappi can learn from this and prioritize customer satisfaction as well. By putting the needs of their customers first and going above and beyond to meet their expectations, tappi can build a loyal customer base and establish a strong presence in the market.

Another aspect of Ajua’s success is their innovative approach to technology. They have invested in cutting-edge solutions that streamline processes and improve efficiency. Tappi can take a page out of Ajua’s book and adopt a similar approach. By embracing technology and staying ahead of the curve, tappi can differentiate themselves from competitors and attract customers who are looking for modern solutions.

Furthermore, Ajua has excelled in building partnerships and collaborations with other companies in the industry. By working together with like-minded businesses, Ajua has been able to expand their reach and offer a wider range of services to their customers. Tappi can explore similar partnerships and collaborations to broaden their offerings and reach a larger audience.

In conclusion, while tappi may be a newcomer in the industry, there is great potential for them to achieve success similar to Ajua. By focusing on customer satisfaction, embracing technology, and building strategic partnerships, tappi can carve out a niche for themselves and make a name for their brand. With dedication and hard work, tappi can replicate Ajua’s success and become a leader in the market.
