During the recent presidential debate, Vice President Kamala Harris evaded questions regarding the ongoing border crisis.
When confronted about the administration’s delay in addressing the border crisis and if she would have handled it differently than President Joe Biden, Harris redirected the conversation by highlighting her past experience prosecuting transnational criminal organizations during her tenure as the attorney general of California from 2011 to 2017.
Harris also mentioned her support for a Senate border bill that aimed to increase border agents, despite her history of opposing funding for Border Patrol and ICE officers and advocating for the abolition of ICE detention facilities.
However, critics argue that the Senate border bill would have perpetuated failed policies and compromised state sovereignty.
Additionally, Harris blamed former President Donald Trump for sabotaging the bill, failing to acknowledge the lack of support from Senate Democrats and the public’s disapproval of Biden-Harris border strategies.
When questioned about addressing the root causes of migration, Harris failed to provide concrete examples or solutions, overlooking the record number of illegal entries and apprehended terrorists during her term.
Furthermore, Harris did not address her inconsistent stance on border wall construction and funding, despite fact-checking reports highlighting her opposition to such initiatives.
Throughout the debate, Harris failed to outline a comprehensive border security plan, address the deportation of violent criminals, or express condolences to victims of crimes committed by individuals who entered the country illegally under her watch.
Critics argue that Biden-Harris parole programs have enabled violent criminals to remain in the country, leading to tragic incidents like the murder of Maryland resident Rachel Morin and the death of Houston angel mom Alexis Nungaray’s daughter.
Despite these concerns, Harris has not taken responsibility or offered apologies to the affected families, contrasting the leadership displayed by President Trump in similar circumstances.
As the debate highlighted Harris’s evasion of critical border issues, many continue to call for stronger border security measures and a reevaluation of current immigration policies.
