Former France International Wissam Ben Yedder Receives Suspended Sentence for Sexual Assault
Wissam Ben Yedder, a former France international and key striker for Monaco, has been handed a suspended two-year jail sentence for sexual assault. The incident occurred in September when Ben Yedder, aged 34, met a woman while intoxicated and invited her into his car, where he engaged in inappropriate conduct, according to the investigation.
The woman promptly filed a police complaint, leading to Ben Yedder’s arrest. During his trial, he claimed not to remember the incident, attributing it to alcohol and revealing that he has sought help through a rehab programme. Surprisingly, Ben Yedder did not attend his sentencing.
Despite this legal setback, Ben Yedder’s troubles are far from over. He faces additional charges of psychological violence against his wife and an ongoing investigation into an accusation of rape from 2023, both of which he vehemently denies.
Throughout his career, Ben Yedder has been a prolific striker, making a name for himself at clubs like Toulouse and Sevilla before joining Monaco in 2019. During his time at Monaco, he scored an impressive 118 goals in 201 matches. Additionally, he represented the French national team, making 19 appearances and scoring three goals.
