Elton John Reveals Vision Loss Due to Infection
Renowned British musician Elton John made a shocking revelation during a gala performance of his latest musical, The Devil Wears Prada, at London’s Dominion Theatre. The 77-year-old icon disclosed that he has lost his eyesight as a result of complications from a severe infection, preventing him from fully enjoying the show that he had composed the music for.
Despite his vision impairment, John expressed his love for the musical and gratitude towards his husband, David Furnish, whom he referred to as his rock during this challenging time.
Earlier this year, John announced that a severe eye infection he contracted in France had rendered him blind in his right eye and with limited vision in his left. The recovery process has been slow, but the music legend remains optimistic about regaining his sight with the support of his medical team and family.
During a recent interview on Good Morning America, John opened up about the impact of his vision loss on his career, explaining how it has hindered his ability to work in the studio due to the inability to see lyrics.
The highly anticipated The Devil Wears Prada musical, inspired by the novel and film of the same name, premiered in London’s West End with a star-studded gala. The event, which aimed to raise funds for the Elton John AIDS Foundation, featured Vanessa Williams in the role of Miranda Priestly, the iconic fashion editor.
Notable personalities like Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue and speculated inspiration behind Priestly’s character, graced the event with their presence.
