African Leaders Extend Congratulations to President-elect Donald Trump
Following the announcement of US President-elect Donald Trump’s victory in the November 5 presidential election, several African leaders have extended their congratulations to the Republican Party candidate.
In his address in Florida on Wednesday, Trump expressed his gratitude for overcoming challenges that many believed he would not. The Electoral College is set to meet in December to confirm the 2024 presidential election results, with the new US president scheduled to be sworn in on January 20, 2025.
Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud hailed Trump’s victory as historic and expressed eagerness to continue collaborating for peace, security, and mutual prosperity. Similarly, Burundi’s President Evariste Ndayishimiye congratulated Trump and emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between Burundi and the USA.
Nigeria’s leader, Bola Tinubu, highlighted the potential for enhanced economic collaboration, peace promotion, and addressing global issues between the two countries under Trump’s administration. President Felix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo pledged to work with the newly elected American president to enhance their strategic partnership.
Zambia’s President Hakainde Hichilema commended Trump’s accomplishment as a reflection of the people’s right to choose their leaders and expressed Zambia’s readiness to deepen its relationship with the US. Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa emphasized the need for leaders advocating for the people and expressed Zimbabwe’s willingness to collaborate for a better world.

South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa expressed eagerness to continue the close partnership with the US and highlighted the upcoming G20 presidency collaboration in 2025 and 2026. Kenya’s President William Ruto lauded Trump’s leadership qualities, terming his win as a testament to the American people’s confidence in his visionary approach.
Egypt’s President Abdelfattah El-Sisi also congratulated President-elect Donald Trump, wishing him success in advancing the interests of the American people.
