The Ashanti Regional Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Kwame Baah Mensah, found himself in a dramatic situation on Thursday morning when he was forcibly evicted from his office by a group of unknown individuals. The incident, which took place at the NSA office located at the Baba Yara Stadium, was reportedly carried out by thugs allegedly linked to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to reports from Luv FM, the thugs stormed the NSA office and proceeded to lock all offices, with the exception of the NSA Administrator’s office. They then demanded that Baah Mensah vacate his office and hand over the keys to both his office and official car. The situation escalated quickly, prompting the intervention of officers from the Asokwa police, led by ASP Kofi Aboagye, to ensure Baah Mensah’s safety as he left the premises.
What was perhaps most shocking about the incident was the reaction of the NSA staff in the Ashanti Region. A report by myjoyonline.com revealed that a large number of staff members appeared to support the actions of the thugs. They were seen celebrating and cheering as Baah Mensah was escorted out of the building, accusing him of various misconducts including unfair promotions, victimization, poor working relations, corruption, and failure to pay allowances to casual workers for the past four months.
After discussions with the police, the group of thugs eventually left the premises, allowing Baah Mensah to pack his personal belongings into a vehicle with the assistance of the police. However, the staff refused to allow him to take bottles of water from his office, claiming that the water had been purchased with NSA funds.
In a rather dramatic turn of events, Baah Mensah was booed by the staff as he left the building and was escorted into a private vehicle. Some workers even cheered and hurled insults at him as he departed, painting a chaotic scene at the NSA office.
The incident has raised concerns about the state of affairs at the NSA office in the Ashanti Region, as well as the behavior of the staff members who seemingly supported the violent eviction of their Director. It remains to be seen how the situation will be resolved and what actions will be taken in response to the events that transpired on that fateful Thursday morning.
