As the Dubai Sevens approaches this weekend, Blitzboks playmaker Tristan Leyds is gearing up for his debut in the World Rugby SVNS tournament. Despite his limited international experience compared to his teammates, Leyds is determined to make a significant impact on the field and prove his worth as a valuable member of the national team.

Having only joined the Blitzboks last season, the former Stormers player is eager to showcase his skills and contribute to the team’s success in the upcoming series. Leyds, who is the brother of Springbok player Dillyn Leyds, is confident in his abilities and ready to take on the challenge of playing a key role in the absence of the injured Selvyn Davids.

Reflecting on the team’s performance in the previous season, where they finished in seventh place, Leyds expressed optimism about their prospects for the 2024/25 campaign. He emphasized the importance of executing their game plan and focusing on their training preparations to start the season on a positive note.

With a clear understanding of his responsibilities within the team structure, Leyds is determined to make a meaningful contribution on the field. Despite facing criticism in the past, particularly regarding his defense, the 27-year-old has dedicated himself to improving his skills and becoming a more well-rounded player.

As he prepares for his sixth World Rugby SVNS tournament, Leyds is excited about the opportunity to compete on the international stage and showcase his development since joining the Blitzboks. He is determined to prove that he is more than just a number on the field and is ready to make his mark in the upcoming series.
