During a courtesy visit by the organisers of the annual event to his palace in Accra on Friday, August 29, 2025, the Ga Mantse emphasized the importance of not taking democracy and peace for granted in Ghana. He commended the initiative of the Members of Parliament and the Speaker of Parliament for bringing people together through the game.
King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II expressed his belief that Ghana has enjoyed peace and respect due to the stability of its democratic system. In a show of support for the Democracy Cup match, he pledged to provide 1,000 tickets for fans to enjoy the game.
The Democracy Cup was introduced by Parliament last year to celebrate Ghana’s democratic progress and promote peace ahead of the general elections.
