Case of KNUST Student Accused of Murdering Girlfriend Adjourned
The case involving 21-year-old final-year student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Daniel Tuffuor, who is accused of murdering his girlfriend, Joana Deladem Yabani, has been adjourned to September 15, 2025.
Background
Tuffuor was arrested on Thursday, February 27, 2025, after Joana’s lifeless body was discovered on campus earlier that morning. University security officers, upon being alerted, promptly reported the matter to the police.
Investigations later confirmed that the deceased and the suspect were in a romantic relationship. CCTV footage reportedly captured a man, believed to be Tuffuor, strangling Joana to death following an altercation.
Legal Proceedings
He was subsequently arraigned before the Prempeh District Court, where proceedings have since been ongoing. Although Joana has since been buried and funeral rites performed, police investigations remain active while Tuffuor continues to be held on remand in prison custody.
