Chicago Man Charged with Aggravated Robbery and Attempted Armed Robbery on Sox-35th Red Line Platform
A 19-year-old Chicago man, identified as Curtis Edwards, is facing charges of aggravated robbery and attempted armed robbery involving two women on the Sox-35th Red Line platform. The incidents took place around 7 a.m. on June 2 near Sox Park.
According to prosecutors, Edwards first approached one of the women while displaying a handgun tucked in his waistband and demanding her property. However, he left empty-handed. Moments later, he targeted a second woman on the platform, implying he was armed and demanding her belongings. The victim handed over her makeup bag, but Edwards returned shortly after to take her wallet and iPhone from her purse before escaping on a southbound Red Line train.
Following his arrest by Chicago police last week, Edwards reportedly made “admissions” during an interview with detectives. Judge Shauna Boliker ordered that he be detained pending trial.
