The Wynberg Magistrate’s Court has been rocked by a tragic incident that led to the arrest of a 24-year-old woman in connection with the murder of a taxi operator. The victim, Dingalomoya Chintso, a 50-year-old taxi operator from Vrygrond, was shot inside the court building on Tuesday, 8 April. The suspect, identified as Shireen Matthews, was apprehended shortly after the incident and has since appeared in court to face charges of murder.

In a recent development, another suspect has been arrested in connection with the same murder case. The 24-year-old woman was taken into custody over the weekend by detectives from the Western Cape serious and violent crimes unit. It is believed that she played a role in the orchestrated assassination of the taxi operator.

Matthews, who is considered to be the mastermind behind the shooting, is scheduled to appear in court again on Wednesday, 23 April. According to police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa, further arrests are expected as the investigation progresses. The authorities are working diligently to apprehend all individuals responsible for the murder and bring them to justice.

The shooting inside the court building is believed to be a revenge murder orchestrated by Matthews. The victim, Chintso, was attending a court hearing related to a murder case in which he was the accused. It is alleged that Matthews recruited members of the Junky Funky Kids (JFK) gang to carry out the assassination as an act of retaliation for the murder of another gang member the previous year.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Western Cape spokesperson, Eric Ntabazalila, confirmed that the motive behind the shooting was likely tied to past criminal activities involving the victim. The incident has sparked concerns about security measures within the court premises, prompting authorities to ramp up security to prevent similar incidents in the future.

As the investigation unfolds and more details come to light, the community awaits justice for the senseless murder that took place within the walls of the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court. The arrest of the second suspect marks a significant step towards holding all responsible parties accountable for their actions.
