The students from the STEM Department at Afua Kobi Ampem Girls’ Senior High School have achieved a remarkable milestone by designing and constructing a surveillance drone prototype for the Ghana Air Force. This innovative drone, named ‘Josephine’, is intended for border surveillance and delivering essential supplies such as weapons, medicine, and food to air force and military personnel.
Speaking about the project, one of the lead presenters stated, “This drone can be used to survey the borders and send weapons, medicine, and food supplies to air force and military personnel.” The group’s main spokesperson also disclosed that the project required an estimated cost of about 30,000 cedis.
This significant accomplishment highlights the school’s dedication to fostering student innovation in aeronautical engineering. It underscores Ghana’s increasing focus on STEM education as a vital component for national development and technological advancement.
